Our Mission

The Black Women’s Wellness Village of Buffalo is dedicated to reimagining the healthcare system to better serve women of color. Women of color often have their pain and suffering overlooked, leading to worse health outcomes compared to their white counterparts. Our goal is to create a healthcare experience where women of color feel safe, seen, and heard. We want to reinvent healthcare to better meet the needs of our communities. Join us in establishing a new healthcare model for Buffalo that prioritizes the health of our community.

  • Radical Reimagining

We refuse to accept the disparate health outcomes that affect women of color. Instead, we urgently seek to reimagine the healthcare experience as providers and advocates so that women can enjoy their best health.

  • Welcoming

Our healthcare system was not designed with the needs of women of color in mind. The Village meets women where they are on their journey, accommodating the realities of their lives by providing a welcoming and understanding environment.

  • Empowerment

Embracing the power of women, we build their confidence in their own voices through listening, education, and advocacy.

  • Safety

We promote safety and security for all women, staff, and volunteers in our community through inclusivity, compassion, and understanding.

  • Responsiveness

We understand the importance of feedback from the women we serve and seek opportunities to listen, learn, and respond effectively. We also strive to learn from experts and adopt best practices to promote health equity.
